Grace Collins and Beatrice von Preussen met whilst they were both studying plastics, ceramics and metalwork at Brighton University.
They set up a studio together and began putting on exhibitions and selling their own work, and that of other artists, as part of the Brighton Festival. Their new business,The Studio Shop opened in April 2007, the product of a curator and a shopkeeper brought together by the unique environment of Brighton’s workshop community and Artist’s Open House traditions.
The shop stocks a captivating and ever changing collection of items, which makes it a one of a kind shopping experience. The Studio Shop allows us to indulge our passion for idiosyncratic design and individual manufacture. Most of our products are locally sourced and hand made, many of them are one off pieces which have captured our imagination.
We know most of our artists personally, and we aim to bridge the gap between artists and buyers by promoting commissions. If there is something a customer wants which we don’t have, we are delighted to discuss it with them and come up with the perfect designer, maker or artist to fulfil their needs.
We love nothing more than a chat about making things and The Studio Shop is the place to do it! |
